Social media is increasingly controlled and manipulated for advertising and profit. Seeing a post the first time is easy; finding it again is not.
When someone has a question, they go to Google. Google will recommend the best websites. This is Search Engine Optimization, or SEO. It's free! All you need is a website.
Sometimes it seems like everyone is social. Facebook and social media get 3 billion visitors a month. That seems like a lot.
Google and search engines get 30 billion searches in the same month! TEN times more than all social media combined!
When people don't know exactly what they are looking for, they ask questions by category. Google will recommend the websites that match that category. This means if your Bahá'í website answers their question, it will be shown to people who have never heard of Bahá'í. This is ranking.
Many questions are local, so your answer doesn't need to be perfect. The most important part is to have a working website, that has the information people are requesting. For example: "Spiritual Children's Classes", "Moral Youth Groups" or "Non-denominational Devotions". How do we know what questions people are asking? Easy! Google Trends.
Starting a website is not difficult. Remember how the Wilmette temple began. 'Abdu'l-Bahá said "Make a beginning." Our 9YearYear template starts with quotes from the Central Figures, images from the Media Bank, permanent links to the World Center, with options to add local Children's Classes, Firesides and Devotionals. This will get you started and you can agree on upgrades and changes as they are needed.
Community problems evaporate when there are new members. If every community had a simple website to provide answers to the search engine questions, we could increase each community by one or two members per year. Multiply this by 100,000+ localities and we have entry by troops!
